Version 1.8

November 2026 In review at Apple

DeClick, audio from video, markers, LUFS and presets — the big workshop update.

New

  • ●DeClick (Pro) — Detect and remove clicks and crackle — vinyl transfers included. AI check with its own Core ML model, “Listen to removed only” to verify; a single selected click can be removed precisely, and the automatic mode learns the sensitivity from your example.
  • ●Audio from video — “Get audio from video” on the start screen — from Photos or Files. The soundtrack opens as WAV in the editor, 5.1 is mixed to stereo.
  • ●Markers — Set flags, jump to them, rename them and select from marker to marker; markers move with every edit (iPhone and Mac).
  • ●Presets — SoundsBetter, High-pass, Compressor, Leveler, De-esser, DeClick, Pitch and BetterVoice: built-in presets, save your own and share them as files — right in the jd.Edit › Presets folder, no file dialog.
  • ●Normalize to LUFS — New mode per ITU-R BS.1770 with true peak and targets for streaming, podcast and broadcast.
  • ●Volume slider — The speaker button in the iPhone editor opens a slider from mute to +12 dB with preview instead of muting right away.

Improved

  • ●Limiter 2.0 — Input · process · output, look-ahead, soft knee, auto gain, true peak and an analysis with a recommendation.
  • ●Stereo to Mono 1.2 — Signal view on top and level per channel.
  • ●Bypass while previewing — Compare original and result directly, with the B key on the Mac.
  • ●Level bars — Per channel behind the dB scale, with a clip field (iPhone, can be turned off in Settings › Editor).
  • ●Plug-in pages — Version number in every effect header, new card style with cross-head screws, preview progress runs clockwise around the button.

Fixed

  • ●Scroll wheel — Now sits below the waveform in the iPhone editor and no longer covers fade points.
  • ●Meters and playhead — Follow what you hear — output latency, Bluetooth included, is compensated.
  • ●Previewing a selection — Now loops inside the selection only.
  • ●Leveler — No more overshoot at the start of the file.
  • ●Limiter recommendation — No longer drifts down when you analyze again.

On the Mac

  • ●DeClick on the Mac — Detections marked red in the editor (E key), remove a selected click precisely (K key).
  • ●Open videos — Open a video or drop it on the window, or use “Get Audio from Video …” (⇧⌘O).
  • ●Markers and right-click — M sets a marker, ⌥←/⌥→ jumps; right-click in the waveform offers cut, copy, paste, selection and silence.
  • ●Settings — New section with Pro, General, Editor, Waveform, Playback and About.
  • ●Windows and keys — Effect windows as tall as their content, drag fade points right in the editor, a progress bar when opening files, ⌘X/⌘C/⌘V/⌘A act on text fields.

Version 1.7

October 2026

Studio, BetterVoice, Equalizer, turntable video — and jd.Edit now for iPad and Mac.

New

  • ●iPad and Mac — Its own iPad layout and its own app in the Mac App Store — if you bought Pro, you have it everywhere.
  • ●iPhone Duo — Outer and inner display are supported, the fold stays clear.
  • ●Studio — Arrange several tracks on a timeline and play them together — with mute, solo, faders, projects and a stereo WAV mix export.
  • ●Equalizer (Pro) — Up to 24 bands, analyzer, dynamics per band, mid/side, linear phase, presets, EQ Match, curve drawing and Spectrum Grab.
  • ●BetterVoice — A complete voice channel strip in six modules: preamp, high-pass, compressor, de-esser, enhancer, gate.
  • ●Pitch — Shift the pitch with formant preservation or as a tape effect.
  • ●Turntable video — The cover spins on a platter — four models, 18 / 33⅓ / 45 rpm, the tonearm lowers and the music starts with the needle. Plus presets for podcast, story and YouTube.

Improved

  • ●Effects on the selection — With a selection an effect applies only there, otherwise to the whole file.
  • ●Fade — Drag curve points right on the waveform, double-tap adds and removes points.
  • ●Waveform — Shows every applied stage — you see what you hear.
  • ●Recording — Input routing for interfaces with mini meters, selectable sample rate and bit depth, storage meter with remaining time, optional playback always through the iPhone speaker.
  • ●Haptics — Detents on the knobs, can be turned off.

Fixed

  • ●Studio — Track headers no longer overlap.
  • ●Pitch page — Margins match all other effects.

Version 1.6

September 2026

Effects, video export, a new player — the first big update.

New

  • ●Nine effects — Normalize, Stereo to Mono, NoiseFloor, High-pass, Leveler, Compressor, De-esser, SoundsBetter and Limiter — each on its own page with knobs and meters.
  • ●Preview — The play button loops the change instantly, every knob is live; only Apply writes it to the file.
  • ●Video export — Audio as a video for sharing: cover with crop and zoom, title, artist and equalizer.
  • ●Sleep timer — Hold the play button, pick a duration — playback fades out and stops on its own.

Improved

  • ●Recording — New look with toggles for format, monitor and NoiseFloor; the noise profile is applied right after stopping.
  • ●Player — Waveform moving with playback, playlist, title and artist from the ID tag.
  • ●Try Pro — Every Pro feature can now be used twenty times for free instead of five.
  • ●Language — Fully in German and English, system dialogs included.

Version 1.5

New

  • ●Export — WAV and AAC for free; with Pro, MP3 through the in-house encoder jd.Codec and 24/32 bit with dither.
